Remodeling kitchen and changing it to have an island. Counter, backsplash, flooring: How to coordinate? Read.

I’m doing away with the eat-in area and adding a very large island. I am doing granite countertops that continue to become the backsplash. I will do a different kind of granite on the floor, or maybe ceramic tile.
My question is: Should I match the huge island with the floor or with the counter & backsplash? I’m worried the island, counter and backsplash all the same will be overkill. Opinions?
The sitting room will have carpet. Wood flooring is not an option, it is what I am removing.

match island with the counter. It would look od not being matched as it is counter space too, the floor will be enough to break it up look wise.

match with the counter and backsplash, unless you are planning to do something in stainless steel or cutting borad. The floors are seperate, if you match the floors to the island you should match it all. work surfaces should all be consistent.

Definitely match with the counter and backsplash. You could choose a lighter or darker shade for the backsplash instead, and have all your countertop areas (including your island’s) in the one colour.
Also, consider that once everything is done up and you have equipments (toaster, coffee-maker, etc) on your countertops, you’ll have much less visible space and you won’t feel its overkill at all.
