I am remodeling my kitchen on a budget, how can I get paint my cabinets a high gloss white?

You can paint them yourself. But you need to put on a couple of coats. Be sure you let them dry between coats.

High gloss white is probably best done by resurfacing. This is where a new high gloss white panel is applied over your existing cabinets. Quick and looks great. If your cabinets are in good order (not like mine falling apart) look into this option.

Get 123 primer first. And use a paint gun. I helped my neighbor do hers. And we used stainless steal hardware looks great. Check your local hardware store for classes and help for painting. I have painted every thing in my house even the sink & tub!

I would pick up aome scrap wood and the smallest container of paint you can get and practice first. You could then experiment with finishes and stuff.
If you paint them by hand, use a roller and not a brush to eliminate brush marks.

If you want them perfect with no brush strokes or roller marks they need to be sprayed. You need to sand the cabinets so they have no blemishes. Remove all hardware and spray them with a high quality gun. I’ve used my spraytech airless sprayer for doors and it worked awesome without flaw. Also do not use a cheap quality paint. Go to Sherwin Williams or a reputable place like that and get their acrylic enamel that resists chipping and holds up to more. Its like $30 / gallon but well worth it.

We did our kitchen on a budget last year. New countertops, painted the cabinets, new hardware, new sink, faucet and floor…all for under $800….that is a bargain.
First, clean the cabinets very well and remove all hardware and sand them. Remove all the dust. We took the doors off and painted them in the basement on tables. We went to Lowes and they told us about an oil based primer. This primed the cabinets. After this dried we were able to paint with latex paint. We then distressed ours. We asked about putting a sealer on them, but they told us it would melt the latex paint…they paint would age with time. And it did. You want to use a bright white semigloss or highgloss. But I am not sure how you will get them to appear that you did not paint them….they will show brush marks. You could spray them, but that would be very expensive and you said “on a budget”.
